It is time to sign up for scouts again this year. As with everything this past year, the costs to register for scouts has risen. All awards have also had price increases. Yes, for those of you new to the program, we have to pay for every award from patches to beads. The Pack Committee has determined that the pack is unable to absorb these extra fees and must pass the costs on to its members.

The Pack Comm. realizes money is just one of the issues that we deal with. Our main goal is to help create outstanding young gentlemen thru family interactive activities, learning experiences and a whole lot of fun.

How much does the pack incur in cost for 1 scout?   We did an analysis back in May 2002 (about 1 year ago – this would be with old prices for everything etc.)

For Tiger Cub / Wolf Scout / Bear Scout:  $57.35 includes Rank Badges, Arrow Point-Avg. 4, Belt Loops & Pins, Other Patches-Avg3, Year Pin, Attendance Pin, Book, Viking Council Registration, Pinewood Derby Car.

For Webelos: $112.30 includes Rank Badges, Activity Pins-Avg10 of the 20, Belt Loops & Pins, Other Patches-Avg3, Year Pin, Attendance Pin, Book, Viking Council Registration, Webelos Camp,  Pinewood Derby Car.

These figures are just what is given individually to a scout. This does not include the overall pack expenses such as rental of the gym that is new this year, supplies for Pack Meetings, although try to keep it to a minimum,  training for our leaders, copies, postage, and other expenses. We try to cover all these costs with the Pack Fundraisers. If you have other ways to help our Pack raise money, please step forward and not only let us know but volunteer to be a part of it. We are very busy doing many jobs as you can see by our need of positions to be filled.  So please volunteer and be a part of continuing to make our Pack a great one!

Our sponsoring organization: The Monticello Lions do provide us with financial help when we have scouts in need so that they can enjoy all the advantages that the rest of the scouts do.  We thank them for their support. Please thank them as you meet them throughout the years.
