We need your help:
Folks this is serious – we need everyone to step up and do some small jobs and share the bigger ones. We have people who are done in February with their scouts graduating to boy scouts – we can not go on unless we fill these positions. By February we must have new people in these positions to re-new out charter. If you wish to benefit from the program then you need to put some help (time) into the program. Contact Cindee 295-5521 or Esther 878-2204 as to which job you would like to do.
· We need a new Committee Chair. – Job description: As information comes into the Pack you will need to send to the correct chairperson. You will also need to make an agenda for the committee meetings. The committee meetings take place once a month. This is very easy since you make it off of the last year and last months agenda.
· Cubmaster – Job description: Run the Pack Meetings. We need to get some men up front and this would be a great spot to do it in. The theme for the Pack meeting is all scripted on the “Program Helps” book and one just needs to collect the materials and follow the script. The awards are already laid out by the Awards Chair – you just need to read the names off.
· We need a new Asst. Cubmaster. – Job description: provide a gathering activity at the beginning of each Pack meeting. Help hand out awards at the Pack meeting. Everything that we do at the Pack meetings is already scripted in the “Program Helps” book. This is very easy – you just need to collect the materials needed if any and then follow the script.
· Treasurer – Job description: make out checks and deposit money as needed for the Pack. Present a treasurers report at the committee meetings once a month.
· Uniform Inspector Chair – Job description: this person(s) greets the scouts as they come in and looks to see if their uniform matches Uniform Bob’s, then the scout gets a prize if they pass inspection.
· Flags at high school games / other outings chair - Job description: this person contacts the high school and other affiliates to which our group does opening flag ceremonies. Games include Football, Basketball and any other sports we can get a color guard present at. This event did not happen last year due to the lack of a committee chair.
· Sledding in Jan/Feb Chair: Job description: Lining up a date, putting out a flyer and providing munchies and hot cocoa is all that is involved in this position. Of course the snow has a lot to do with it too. New flyers can be made off of the old ones. This event can take place at East River Park or at another “safe” location as chosen by the committee chair of this position. This event did not happen last year due to the lack of a committee chair.
· Bike and Walk Outings Chair: Job description: the contact for this job lines up a date and makes a flyer and sends it out. This can all be done off of the old flyers that have been made in the past. This event did not happen last year due to the lack of a committee chair.
· Memorial Parade Chair: Job description: This person is responsible to oversee those kids who participate in the parade. Basically walking along the parade route. You will need to procure the flags before the event.
· We need parents of younger scouts to assume some roles and be mentored by our current chairs that are in place. Please contact Cindee 295-5521 or Esther 878-2204 as to which job you would like to do.
Next Pack Meeting: September 18th 7pm –
Ø The meeting is a week Conferences
Ø All Rank badges (Bobcat, Tiger Cub, Wolf, Bear and Webelos) will be awarded at the meeting as well as other special awards.
Ø All Belt Loops and Pins will now be awarded at your den meetings. You must attend the Pack meeting for your leader to get your belt loops that evening. They will then award them at your next den meeting. There is a limit of three belt loops per Pack Meeting so you may have some on “backorder”.
Ø If you have a friend who is interested in joining scouting have them come and check us out!
XMAS TREES – oh my - did I really say that this time of year! Yes folks – it‘s just around the corner!
Our
Pack is selling Xmas Trees again. Tony Lavrenz headed this up last year and
has graciously offered to head it up again this year. He has Joe Rose and
Steve Kvam helping him out as well.
We do
need volunteers to help cut down the trees.
As you
help cut down trees you are welcome to purchase and cut your own at that same
time. This would be a great family outing!
Call
Tony Lavrenz at 263-1066 today to be a part of this. We think it would make a
fun time for all and it has a huge profit margin for our Pack.
Let the Good Times Roll !!! Literally speaking – Pack 272’s Annual Roller-skating Party is Dec. 2nd!
Þ We are at the Monti Roller Rink once again. We will roll-on-in at 6pm and stay (mostly upright we hope) until 8pm. The Pack pays for each scout’s roller skates and a hotdog dinner.
Þ The entire family is welcome - that includes you parents! You will need to pay at the door for any non-scout kids/adults who are skating. Non-skaters are allowed in free of charge. This is for Pack 272 scouting families only – no non-family friends please.
Þ Scouts can upgrade to inline skates if they wish but they must pay the difference at the door. You may bring your own skates as well.
Þ Parents please do not drop your child at the door – please come in and join us. If you must leave please make sure someone is in charge of your child and knows how to reach you in an emergency. Thanks
Candy Sales / Fundraiser:
BIG THANK
YOU TO THE LUKOWSKI FAMILY FOR DOING A GREAT JOB! THANK YOU!
Prizes are
awarded on a lottery system. For each box sold under the scouts name a slip of
paper will go into the drawing. We will draw names at the next Pack Meeting.
Thank you to the Ekhart’s for the great job on the Halloween Party.
ALUMINUM CANS- Keep collecting them:
o Every bit helps to make our Pack better and to keep our earth clean. Thanks for taking pride in your conservation projects!!!!
o Mr. Tim Cotter will be collecting the aluminum cans at each pack meeting so you don’t have to keep bags of them in your garage. If you have a lot of cans let Tim know, or if you wish to get them directly to him please call him at 320-558-2304.
Marking your son’s book - By consistently updating your son’s book each month, the Pack is better able to accommodate the awards and Pack meetings. If you wait until the end of the year we will have a marathon Pack meeting. SO, please check your son’s book each month and talk with your son about achievements/ electives/ badges that are within his reach so he will better understand what great activities lay ahead for him. Your Leader must call all awards into the Awards Chair by mid-month each month.
Uniform Inspection: At this time we do not have anyone for uniform inspection so it will not take place.
