_________CURRENT NEWS______________________________________________

Got MS/J 7.1 Installed Yet? If you don't have the bandwidth for the
huge amount of files (100 mb of which are just JPG files for the
online help), another option is the new Select Services where you can
make a MySelect CD and have it mailed within a few days. You can
choose which programs to go on it (up to 630 mb). Here's the URL:

http://selectservices.bentley.com

We had a delicious meeting in December at TGI Fridays. It's too bad
that the dreaded Holiday Shopping may have prevented some from
attending (more food for the rest of us), but we hope we'll see you at
future meetings. We still have pop and cookies and sometimes have some
freebies.

Be sure to check out the new URL for the MMLC website at the end of
this newsletter.

_________NEXT MONTH'S MEETING DATE/TIME/LOCATION____________________

DATE:       January 18th, 2000

TIME:       5:00 to 7:00 PM

LOCATION:   Minnetonka City Hall Boards and Commissions Room

DIRECTIONS: Take I-494 to the Minnetonka Blvd exit. At the end of the
offramp (either one), turn right to go west for 1/2 mile
to the Williston Road intersection. Turn right on
Williston and follow the signs for the City Hall parking
in the middle rear (north side) of the complex.

When you enter the lobby, take the stairs on the left and
take a left at the bottom. The Boards and Commisions Room
is at the end of the Hallway on the left. Signs will be
             there to direct you.

TOPIC:      BatchPlotting

January's meeting will be Hosted by Scott Ornat and the City of
Minnetonka. The planned topic will be on BatchPlotting and presented
by Dave Dickson. Some reference material on the topic will be
distributed.

We hope to see all of you there! Please feel free to contact any of us
for further directions (if needed), to RSVP, or just show up.
Everyone's welcome!!!

Note: We are generally alternating the times between a 4 pm and a 5 pm
start to give you more flexibility in attending. If the 4 pm time is
too early (in other words, your boss won't let you off early), then
the 5 pm start time may be more convenient for you.

_________MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING_______________________________

DATE:       December 14th, 1999

TIME:       4:00 to 6:00 PM

LOCATION:   T.G.I. Friday's (St. Louis Park)

ATTENDEES: Dave Dickson, Cindi Olichwier, Scott Ornat, Dean
Sturgis, Pam Jones and Craig Berres

TOPIC:     Shop Talk and Food.

The meeting was convened at 4:15 pm. This was an informal 'Holiday'
meeting with a large table and lots of food. Conversation mostly
revolved around Shoptalk and MicroStation (what else?). There was some
discussion about BatchPlotting (which coincidentally is the Topic next
month.

_________MICROSTATION TIP OF THE MONTH_____________________________

This one was posted on the comp.cad.microstation newsgroup.

Q. What is the maximum number of points for clip masks and the
maximum number of clip masks per ref in a referencing dgn file
    anyway ?

A. The number of sides in clip boundary + 1 + total number of sides
in all clip masks + (number of clip masks * 2) must be LESS THAN
    101.

In other words, clip boundary vertices and clip mask vertices are
stored together and you can't have more than 101 vertices total.

Workaround - attach the ref file multiple times.

If you have any tips to share with us here, please send them in and we
will publish the best one next month. The rest will be on our MMLC
website (see the Contact section at the end).
