_________CURRENT NEWS______________________________________________

ProjectBank DGN is now available for download for Select Members! Go
to this Web page to download it (or use the MySelect CD option we told
  you about last month):

http://www.bentley.com/select/stream/index.htm

If any of you brave souls want to be a Guinea Pig and try it out
before the next meeting, please let us know how it went - we'll be
itching to find out! Any 'field reports' about MS/J 7.1 bugs and
incompatibilities will be welcome too. If you can't come to the next
meeting, please email us at mmlc_mail@yahoo.com so we can report it at
the meeting, post it on the Website (see below) or include it in a
future update. The rest of us will be eternally grateful.

Also, be sure to check out the new changes for the MMLC website at:

_________NEXT MONTH'S MEETING DATE/TIME/LOCATION____________________

DATE:       February 15th, 2000

TIME:       4:00 to 6:00 PM

LOCATION:   SEH

DIRECTIONS: Take Crosstown (State Hwy 62) to Shady Oak Road (County
Rd. 61) Northbound exit. Once on Shady Oak Road heading
north take first right.  Take next first right into
parking lot of Holiday Express. Go around back of building
and take a left out of parking lot then take a right  into
parking lot across the street and you are there. Park in
lot and come up to 2nd floor.  Address is 10901 Red Circle
             Drive.

TOPIC:      TBA. We're open to suggestions. Anyone have any ideas?

February's meeting will be hosted by Dave Dickson at SEH's Minnetonka
Office. If you go to the St. Paul Office you'll miss us.

We hope to see all of you there! Please feel free to contact Dave for
further directions at 612-912-2627. Everyone's welcome!!!

As yet we don't have a topic. If there's anything special you want to
discuss, or you want to give a presentation (we promise to be a good
audience!), please email one the MMLC Officer's listed at the end or
just send it to: mmlc_mail@yahoo.com.

Note: We are generally alternating the times between a 4 pm and a 5 pm
start to give you more flexibility in attending. If the 4 pm time is
too early (in other words, your boss won't let you off early), then
the 5 pm start time may be more convenient for you.

_________MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING_______________________________

DATE:      January 18th, 2000

TIME:      5:00 to 7:00 PM

LOCATION:  Minnetonka City Hall

ATTENDEES: Pam Jones, Dave Dickson, Scott Ornat, Leslie Van Drasek,
Tom Ferry, Steve Stewart, Kim Midthun, Vladimir Sivriver,
Jim Henderson, Mike Bodin and Chad Berreau

TOPIC:     BatchPlotting

The meeting was convened at 5:15 pm. Dave Dickson gave a very nice
presentation on BatchPlotting. He managed to make a little known
MicroStation feature much clearer for us. We learned than
Batchplotting can process multiple plots from one file, can set the
fence automatically from a defined shape or cell and can save the
plotting specifications to a network resource file to be able to draw
on (no pun intended) the next time a plot is needed.

After much productive discussion of this and other miscellaneous
subjects, Dave reminded of the time and location of the next meeting
and the meeting was adjourned at around 6:30.

_________MICROSTATION TIP OF THE MONTH_____________________________

Tip #1 (Just the FAQs 'mam)

Try the Bentley Technical Documentation Keyword Index at:

http://www.bentley.com/tools/miscdocs/keyword.htm

Tip #2 (This one was posted on the comp.cad.microstation newsgroup.)

From a CAD administrators position have you discovered that your
custom toolboxes have corrupted other users?

Set this in the default.ucf file:-

_USTN_CUSTOMIZEBASEID = 100500

and set this in any user you set up:-
ie. in JOHNS.ucf

_USTN_CUSTOMIZEBASEID = 200500

(This is a Microstation variable but not well documented)

What this allows is that when the administrator creates new tools
(*.M01), they can be added to the default workspace interface for
other users machines without corrupting any of the custom tools
created by the other users and gives the users access to the new
tools.

The ' = 100500 ' could be any number as long as it is smaller than the
users & larger then any of Bentleys or added 3rd party vendors.

How do you find out a toolboxes ID number you ask? enter this at the
command prompt (Keyin area)......

dmsg dialogdebug on

When you click on a tool box it will provide you with an information
box with the info.

Now that your armed with this number you can use it to open your tools
through hot keys (Funckey's, Barmenu's etc) with......

dialog toolbox 100106

the number being YOUR ID number for your custom toolbox.

(get yourself rscrenum.ma if you want to renumber a set of tools)

If you have any tips to share with us here, please send them in and we
will publish the best one next month. The rest will be on our MMLC
website (see the Contact section at the end).
