_________MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING_______________________________

DATE:      September 26th, 2000

TIME:      5:30 to 7:30 PM

LOCATION:  SEH Conference Room

ATTENDEES: Dave Dickson, Steve Stewart, Lynn Riggs, Tom Ferry, Pam
Schmitz, Greg Porycky, Leslie Van Drasek, Kim Midthun,
Jim Henderson, Scott Ornat, Dean Sturgis, Mike Bodin, Chad
           Berreau

TOPIC:     New Ideas about Group

The meeting was convened at 5:30 pm. Dave Dickson gave an account of
his visit with the Iowa IDEAS Group Conference and his ideas for
starting one of our own up. Once a year the Iowa User Group (IDEAS)
puts on a users conference complete with seminars and Vendor demos.

The consensus was to try it on a smaller scale within a year. Local
Vendors, Bentley and even Intergraph (which maintains an office in
Minnetonka) may provide help. A 1-day conference with morning classes
and afternoon Vendor demos was discussed. The target date was set at
Fall of 2001, but may have to occur during the summer break if we use
an educational facility as the host.

The subject was brought up about changing the name of the group -
perhaps something with TMC in it? The old logo (used in the webpage)
seems to be ripe for change also, especially if the group name
changes.

Discussion was brought up about increasing membership since several
companies, including Xcel (formerly NSP) and Target are also using
MicroStation. Even Dunwoody Industrial Institute is now planning to
use MicroStation. Suggestions were made to to get names for the
mailing list from Vendors such as Itasca Group or Cad/Cam.

Some discussion was made of Mary Ramsey's good presentation at
Bentley's BIUC (along with her CadGuru's website and newsletter -
www.cadgurus.com) and the upcoming Version
8.

After setting the location and date of the next meeting, the meeting
was adjourned at 7:30 pm.

_________MICROSTATION TIP OF THE MONTH_____________________________

Subject: Re: Seed files data base?
From: CADDCOP <c_rheault@my-deja.com>
Date: Wed, 27 Sep 2000 18:25:49 GMT
Newsgroups: comp.cad.microstation

If someone sent you a file and you need a matching seed file, place a
fence around nothing and use the sf= or ff= (fence separate, fence
file) commands. After you give it a filename, issue a datapoint,
ignore
the message about no elements in fence and voila! You now have a new
seed file that matches the current file.
